Code of conduct

This document contains what we consider proper behaviour and is what we expect from those who wish to participate or get involved in DarkStone Catalunya's activities, including players, game masters, and administrators.

Safe Space

We consider diversity on equal footing an essential good, therefore discriminatory attitudes are not acceptable for any reason, including but not limited to discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, identity, or origin.

Harassment and the use of threats have no place in this space, and we ask that if you suffer or witness them, you contact the administrators to prevent it.

To ensure this, we ask people who run games to use safety measures such as the X card, the traffic light system, or lines and veils, as well as any other measure that allows the smooth running of games.

In case of harassment or any other type of abuse, follow the DarkStone Catalunya Anti-Harassment Protocol.

Promoting leisure in Catalan

One of our organization's objectives is to promote the use of Catalan in leisure spaces and games and during organized play. For this reason, we ask for your involvement and to promote its use as the priority language whenever possible. Not knowing the language is in no case an impediment to participating in games or being part of the group, but we ask for a positive and generous attitude in this regard. We are sure that together we will do everything possible to understand each other and help improve language skills if necessary!

Space for understanding and respectful communication

Be respectful, considerate, and constructive: Disagreement, which happens often, is not an excuse for rudeness or personal attacks. When responding, offer alternatives instead of negatives. Remember that a community where people feel uncomfortable cannot be fun, a key issue for achieving our main goal: having a great time playing.

Be patient and generous: If someone asks for help, it's because they need it. Offer kind responses that can help the person asking without resorting to aggressive replies or the «read the manual» style.

Make an effort to correctly understand what people mean: Remember that decisions are often a difficult choice between opposing poles. If you disagree, please express yourself courteously. If something seems outrageous, check that you haven't misinterpreted it. When in doubt, ask for clarification, but don't assume the most negative interpretation.

Try to be concise: Avoid repeating what has already been said. Unnecessarily prolonging conversations makes them hard to follow. People may feel personally offended when receiving many messages that repeat the same thing.

Respect the topics and copyrights: Do not send messages with topics unrelated to the scope of the communication space you are addressing. For example, commercial messages, or political or religious content. On the other hand, we ask that you do not share copyrighted material on the channel.

Collaboration space

Collaboration is fundamental in community-based projects. We encourage you to work together whether within or outside your own projects, seeking synergies. Collaboration reduces redundant efforts and improves the quality of our work. Internally and externally, we must always be open to collaboration.

Open tables space

DarkStone Catalunya is an open social space where we want to encourage neighbourhood and collective participation. For this reason, we ask that proposed activities be, whenever possible, open to new participants. The DarkStone Catalunya coordination team will ensure that there is always at least one open table so that anyone interested who requests it with enough notice can play with us as far as possible. Furthermore, we encourage established gaming groups to periodically rotate or open spots.
